have many stories to tell of lives saved and battles won which can be
traced back to the fundamental work in sanitation which had its first
full-scale tryout in the digging of the Panama Canal.
Today, the Canal stands out as not only one of
our greatest
engineering assets but, as time passes, one of our greatest health
assets and a monument to those pioneers in
sanitation. ●
