Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev
(17 Apr 1894 - 11 Sep 1971)
Russian political leader who was the first secretary of the All Union Communist Party (1953-64)and premier of the Soviet Union (1958-64). He encouraged the policy of de-Stalinization, removing the worst practices of dictatorship. Pres. Kennedy to remove offensive missiles installed in Cuba in Oct 1962.
