Nathan Washington Dougherty
(23 Mar 1886 - 18 May 1977)

American engineer who spent 40 years at the University of Tennessee, first as department head in civil engineering (1916-40), and later as dean of the College of Engineering (1940-56). He also had a long association with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
