Henry Charles Carey
(15 Dec 1793 - 13 Oct 1879)

American economist who was the chief economic adviser to President Abraham Lincoln. He co-founded the Franklin Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia in 1835. His books Principles of Political Economy (1837-40) and Principles of Social Science (1858-59) were among the first American works in their field.
