Edmund Clerihew Bentley
(10 Jul 1875 - 30 Mar 1956)

English writer and humorist. [np who originated the clerihew form of brief verse giving a humorous pseudo-biography. He was a contributor to Punch, wrote detective stories and was on the staff of the newspapers Daily News (1901-12) and then Daily Telegraph (1912-34).
